Many of you are now enjoying their Summer break and, we are just about to do the same at Mon Bebe.Before packing up our case, we would like to share the article below:

The Sunshine Babies : Children grow taller if their pregnant mothers enjoyed a summer in the sun!

It's called the sunshine vitamin and it seems it smiles on mothers giving birth in late summer and early autumn.

Babies born after their pregnant mothers have enjoyed a big dose of summer sun are taller and stronger-boned than those born in winter and spring, according to a major study.

Researchers reckon the reason is the boost some sunshine gives to levels of vitamin D, which works with calcium to build bones.

Late summer and early autumn babies also have wider, denser bones setting them up for a healthier adulthood.

So enjoy your summer !

In this month's Newsletter, a little handy guide to Baby's 1st year! Congratulations to our new mums and welcome to their little treasures!

On e – Two Months: Baby can recognise familiar voices and scents. Spraying a bit of Mon Bébé scented water on a soft baby brush and brush Baby head daily – hair or not – will prevent cradle cap forming. Colic can also be a problem at this stage, squirting Mon Bébé scented water on baby’s tummy and gently rubbing in will help a lot, along with a nice lullaby.

Three Months: Baby can hold its head, reach and grasp, and smile clearly enjoying being with you. At three months, Baby might have a go at trying some new flavours, like some fruit puree or have some cereals added to her bottle.

Four – Five Months: Baby recognises people and might be a bit frightened by strangers. Also teething is starting and Baby might be sleeping less or crying more. It is a good idea to use Mon Bébé as a pillow mist or as a room spray– it’s a fact that vanilla scent reduces anxiety and has a calming effect.

Six-Seven Months: Baby is a social animal by now, and favourite game is Peek-a-Boo. Baby has started to explore surrounding by rolling over, crawling, and playing. Baby also can be very chatty by now, making lots of funny noises and even trying to repeat what you say, like La-La-La.

Eight-Nine Months: Baby has been enjoying solid food for a little while now, Baby can show what it likes or dislikes! This is also the time where Baby realises that they are a little person of their own and that is a bit scary, especially when mummy has to go away or strangers are around. Smell is a great comforting sense. Spray a bit of Mon Bébé on her favourite doll or teddy – the familiar smell will accompany and reassure baby.

Nine-Twelve Months: Gosh! It is time to light the first candle, and buy the first proper shoes. Time goes so fast when it is filled up by love, kisses, and cuddles and the most wonderful little Baby. Happy Birthday !

Aromatherapy does work!

France - In Strasbourg, Luc Marlier, researcher at the CNRS ( National Centre of Scientific Research ) has been using Vanilla essential oil in the ward caring for premature babies. Results : 82% less apnea episodes. The use of essential oils has also helped to calm babies down during blood tests, injections .. Vanilla is also used in some hospitals before patients go for MRI as it reduce significantly their anxiety. Mon Bebe contains Vanilla extracts and we have to say we have had wonderful feedback from parents whose babies had difficulties settling down or sleeping well or suffering from colics, some of them even calling our scented water a 'life saver'! Christmas is already a distant memory and with a New Year to look up to, that is new challenges and opportunities for all of us, we would like to send again our Best Wishes for 2010 to everyone!
One thing on the list for all of us (and we all deserve it ) is a bit of time, a bit of space, a bit of care, and here is a quick, easy recipe to end a cold winter day

Relaxing Bath
4 drops German Chamomile (blue) essential oil
4 drops Mandarin essential oil
2 drops Sandalwood essential oil
Add to a warm bath and disperse well - or blend with 1tblsp grapeseed oil or 1 tblsp unscented bubble bath and add to a warm bath. Relax in the bath for 15-20 minutes inhaling the vapours. Do not get bath water in your eyes as it will sting.
